Tips on Mixing Prints

The fashion industry is ever changing. The rule of mixing prints was considered faux pas however now mixture of prints are being embraced to make a style statement. Check out the tips below to find out how to mix and match different types of prints:

Choose one print to dominate and one as an accent

Mix prints of different scales (tiny with large ) rather than wearing prints of the same size

Fabrics should belong to the same color family e.g. – navy , black, grey

Pick two different prints that share the same color thus providing the outfit a balance

For an easy vibe, pair mixed prints with neutrals, for example: gingham check and chambray shirt

When using the same patten invert the colors e.g. White stripes on black and black stripes on a white background

Try using the same pattern for top and bottom but in different scales: large and small

Rather than looking at stripes as something that can only be worn once treat it as a natural

To achieve a cohesive look add a belt to break the outfit or the pattern

Tie a plaid shirt around your waist to give the outfit an easy and casual look while at the same time it adds a print to the outfit

Pair two types of the same print e.g. Groovy floral meets wallpaper

Break the patterns for a less busy outfit

Try wearing neutral prints with colourful ones

Pair rigid structure print with bold organic print
